The UPMRC rejected the Chinese company's tender for the Agra and Kanpur metro project

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) rejected the Chinese company's tender for the Agra and Kanpur metro projects. UPMRC has signed an agreement on supply, testing and commissioning of metro trains in Agra and Kanpur as well as train control and signaling system to the Indian company M / s Bombardier Transport India Private Limited.

A total of 67 trains will be supplied for both the Agra and Kanpur metro projects. Each train will have 3 cars or coaches, out of which 39 trains will be for Kanpur and 28 trains will be for Agra. The passenger capacity of a train will be around 980 i.e. around 315-350 passengers will be able to travel in each coach. The Chinese company was disqualified in the technical bid.

On 18 February, four international companies participated in the tender process for this work. Subsequently, a detailed technical assessment of these tenders was conducted, after which the sugar company involved in the bid was disqualified. Three bidders were selected for the financial bid and the lowest bidding company, M / s Bombardier India Pvt. The contract was awarded on Friday. State-of-the-art trains for the Agra and Kanpur metro projects will be supplied by the company's plant in Savli (Gujarat). The 'Make in India' campaign of the central government will also gain strength from this.
