After the completion of the tender process and letter of award of the project, the contract has been awarded to the new company and work has started on 16 July.
The official said that about 80 percent of the work has been targeted to be completed by next June. He informed that the cost of 6.5 km tunnel between Sonamarg and Gagangir is Rs 2379 crore. Six kilometers along the tunnel include a road, two big bridges, a small bridge.

The bidirectional Zojila is the largest tunnel in Asia. Its work will be completed by June 2026.
