Former Delhi University professor GN Saibaba, who is serving life imprisonment in a prison here due to his links with Maoists, has filed a bail petition before the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court.
The petition cited Saibaba's poor health and the outbreak of Corona infection in prison. Saibaba requested the court to urgently hear the plea, following which Justice Atul Chandurkar and Justice Amit Borkar issued notice to the Maharashtra government and other defendants to file their reply before July 24.
Further hearing on the matter is to be held on July 24. The bail plea states that Saibaba is at greater risk of getting infected by the virus due to suffering from several diseases.
