In view of the Corona epidemic in Bihar, the Election Commission will provide the facility of online nomination to the candidates of 243 assembly constituencies. When doing so, there would be a crowd at the Returning Officers office during the nomination process, it would not be.

The most important thing is that this time the candidates will have the facility to submit the nomination form online and fill the nomination fee to enter their candidature during the nomination process. Sources said that the work is being done by the CEO of Tantra office and the state government so that the deposit fee can be deposited through challan or other digital payment mode. Candidates contesting from general seats will have to deposit Rs 10000 while SC / ST candidates of reserved seats will have to pay Rs 5000 for nomination papers.

The Election Commission of India has sought suggestions and advice from the major recognized political parties for the general elections and bye-elections of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, keeping in mind the Corona crisis. The Commission on Friday has directed all political parties to give suggestions and advice by 31 July so that the guidelines can be issued by the Commission on its basis.

The Commission said that there is a crisis of corona in the whole country. Along with this, several guidelines related to prevention and protection of corona infection were issued under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. Guidelines related to this have also been issued by the state government. These include other directions including applying face masks, social distancing, following prescribed social distancing in public places, prohibiting large crowd gathering, thermal screening, sanitization. The commission has directed the president and general secretary of all the major recognized national and state-level political parties to give suggestions regarding election campaign.

Media report says that the option of online nomination of the form has been available for the last several years. But it was not very popular. This time, it has come as a viable option in the wake of the Corona epidemic, when guidelines are to be followed by candidates during elections. The online system is being made more effective. State level officials were trained in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Tuesday about the format of the online facility and the technical aspects of the portal were discussed for submission of nominations online by candidates, sources.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer (Bihar) Gopal Meena said that candidates will have the option to apply online. There will also be a facility to deposit fees online.

Officials said that nomination by candidates online during the Corona epidemic would be a safe process, due to which the crowd gathered at the Returning Officer's office during enrollment would not happen. Usually, the candidates used to reach the returning officer's office to enroll with thousands of supporters, but this time it will not happen.
