The Union FAHD Minister Giriraj Singh releases first edition of ‘Matasya Sampada’

The Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Mr. Giriraj Singh released the first edition of the fishery and aquaculture newsletter "Matasya Sampada" and the Guidelines for the Operation of Prime Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). On this occasion, Mr. Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Honorable Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy and Dr. Rajeev Ranjan, Secretary, Department of Fisheries as well as senior officers of Fisheries Department, Government of India were also present.

The newsletter "Matsya Sampada" is a result of the efforts of the Department of Fisheries to reach the stakeholders especially fishermen and fishermen through various means of communication and to refer them to the latest developments in the field of fisheries and aquaculture Information can be provided. It will be published on a quarterly basis starting from the first quarter of the year 2020-21.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon'ble Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying said that along with the initiatives being taken by the government in the development of fisheries sector, both the government and private sectors are doing good work, Issuing this newsletter is very timely and necessary for informed broadcast. This newsletter will serve as an important medium for dissemination of information among stakeholders, especially fishermen, fishermen, youth and entrepreneurs across the country, helping them and facilitating their trade. He hoped that this newsletter would prove to be a wonderful platform for communication.

While issuing the guidelines for operation of Prime Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana, Shri Giriraj Singh termed the launch of PMMSY as the most important moment in the development journey of fisheries and aquaculture. He further said that PMMSY, through various incentives along the value chain in fisheries, will revolutionize fisheries and aquaculture and take it to the next level. Appreciating the efforts of the Department of Fisheries in fulfilling the operational guidelines of PMMSY in a very short time, the Hon'ble Minister hoped that the States / UTs would be involved in the speedy implementation of the operational guidelines scheme. would help.

The Government of India has launched a new flagship scheme ie 'Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana' (PMMSY) for sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector in May 2020 with an investment of Rs 20,050 crore. The PMMSY is the largest ever investment in fisheries sector covering 100 different activities. Multilateral strategies as well as collaborative and concerted efforts between the government and stakeholders to achieve ambitious targets under PMMSY for additional 70 lakh tonnes of fish production, fisheries exports of one lakh crore rupees, 55 lakh employment generation over the next five years, etc. is required.

As well as disseminating the thinking and initiative of PMMSY, this newsletter "Matsya Sampada" is likely to act as an effective tool and platform towards envisaging public opinion in a collective effort to reach its goals. .
