Mumbai serial blasts convict Yusuf Memon died

Yusuf Memon, the brother of bomb blast convict Tiger Memon in the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, died in Nashik Road Central Jail in Nashik district of Maharashtra on Friday.

An official said 57-year-old Memon had complained of chest pain and breathing problems on Friday morning. He said that Memon was rushed to the District Sadar Hospital where he died during treatment at around 11:45 AM.

He said that the cause of death is yet to be ascertained and his body will be sent to Dhule for postmortem. Nashik Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil confirmed the death of Yusuf Memon.

Yusuf Menon was accused of providing his flat and garage at the Al Hussaini building in Mumbai for terrorist activities during serial bomb blast in mumbai in 1993. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special TADA court in 2007.

He was first kept in Aurangabad jail and then in Nashik jail. Yakub Memon, another Memon brother arrested in the case, was hanged in 2015. The bombings in Mumbai on March 12, 1993 killed at least 250 people and injured hundreds more.
