"Humanity has failed again": Sand Artist Sudarsan Pattnaik depicts killing of pregnant Elephant

Sudarsan Pattnaik condemned the cruel killing of pregnant elephant in Kerala with a sand art on Puri Beach, Odisha. The country was jolted with a rude shock and anger when they heard of a horrific animal cruelty incident that came in from Kerala.

A pineapple filled with crackers was fed to the pregnant elephant which exploded in her mouth giving severe injuries. Unable to withstand the pain, the 15-year-old elephant started running around the village. The elephant reached the Velliyar River while running across the village. Even as it was experiencing excruciating pain, the elephant did not cause any damage. The elephant reached the Velliyar River while running acroos the village and stood inside the water body. The forest department took two elephants- Neelakanthan and Surendran for the rescue operation. The elephant, however, did not step out of the river and died while standing in it.

People have been rallying on social media, calling for justice for the elephant. No arrest is made yet. Through this sand art that depicts the saddening death of mother elephant and her unborn baby, Pattnaik said, "Humanity has failed again". The picture evokes human cruelty against innocent animals, urging all to save elephants.

Netizens took to the comments section to make their support vocal and demanded that what happened to the animals is nothing short of murder and it should be avenged at any cost. Also demanding the criminals behind the bars for such cruel activity.

Not just the common public, even public figures such as Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma, Kapil Sharma, and many more have come out and expressed their anger over this incident. Meanwhile, Humane Society International-India(HSI), an organization working against animal cruelty, on Wednesday offered Rs 50,000 to anyone who would help in bringing the culprit to book and asked to share any information about the case.
