Deep conspiracy behind the killing of (IB) officer Ankit Sharma: Police

The Delhi Police on Wednesday filed a charge sheet in the murder of Intelligence personnel Ankit Sharma during the Delhi riots. In the chargesheet filed in the court on Wednesday, the police said that there was a deep conspiracy behind the riots and the killing of Intelligence Department (IB) officer Ankit Sharma during the violence in North East Delhi as he was specially targeted by a mob led by suspended AAP councilor Tahir Hussain.

The crime branch of Delhi Police filed the chargesheet before Metropolitan Magistrate Richa Parihar, who decided to hear the case on 16 June. In this charge sheet of about 650 pages, 10 people have been charged for the murder of Ankit Sharma. Councilor Tahir Hussain is also named among them. The chargesheet has been filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 302, 365, 147 and 148, 153A, 120-B and 201.

In this case 10 persons including Tahir Hussain were arrested. The charge sheet states that the investigation revealed that there was a deep conspiracy behind the riots and the murder of Ankit Sharma, who was a well-known face in the area. He was particularly targeted by a mob led by Tahir Hussain, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party and a councilor from EDMC, Delhi.

In the investigation, it was found that Tahir Hussain instigated the mob in Chand Bagh area. Police said - the main accused Haseen alias Salman played an important role in Ankit's murder. He was the one who attacked them with a knife. During interrogation, he told that he along with his colleagues Sameer, Qasim, Sabir and others came to the Chand Bagh bridge on 25 February. The unruly mob turned into rioters and caught Ankit Sharma during the riots and dragged him to the Chand Bagh bridge.

The chargesheet further states that Salman also revealed that he attacked Ankit Sharma several times with the knife. His colleagues also attacked him with knives and sticks and after killing him,they threw his dead body into the drain. His body was recovered the next day.

The chargesheet states that a witness standing on a nearby terrace had made a video from his mobile phone in which some people are seen putting the dead body in the drain. During the post-mortem, doctors found 51 bruises on Ankit's body. During the investigation, a blood-stained knife used in the attack on Ankit Sharma was recovered, along with the blood-stained clothes of the attacker. Another knife used in the murder was also seized.

All these circumstances show that the accused Haseen alias Salman is the one who is seen in the video footage who threw the dead body of Ankit Sharma in the drain near Chand Bagh bridge of Karawal Nagar, the crime branch has also filed a charge sheet in the Chand Bagh case related to North East Delhi violence on 2 June.
