Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri while addressing the media on Saturday said that more destination frequencies will be added in the coming week. However these new flights are likely to be within the cap of 33 per cent capacity.

Puri said, "We will increase the service of domestic aircraft. Currently, we have allowed only 33 percent of the aircraft. The aircraft are not flying at full capacity. Where there is more demand, we will increase more aircraft on those routes. If there is more demand, we are ready to start 40 to 45 percent service. ”

So far, on an average 65 thousand to 72 thousand people are traveling under domestic passenger traffic and more than 700 flights are operating daily. More than 1 million passengers have been transported by airlines to their destinations since domestic services resumed from May 25. Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said in the press conference that the decision to resume international flights will depend on the flights resuming in the rest of the world.

Puri said, "No country has started international flights yet. When we start international flights will depend on other countries. When they allow international flights to come to them, it will be started. Until this happens, we have no choice. Till then we will continue with limited flights to repatriate stranded Indians abroad. ”

The minister informed that so far 2.75 lakh Indians have been brought from abroad. Of these, 1,09,000 people have been brought to the country through Air India. Puri said- domestic private airlines have been offered to operate 750 flights to rescue stranded people in Phase III and IV of the Vande Bharat Mission.
