On Thursday, The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested an accused named Mohammad Iqbar Rather in connection with the terror attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama in February last year.

According to an NIA spokesperson, Mohammad Iqbal Rather (25), a resident of Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir, had allegedly helped in the movement of Mohammed Umar Farooq, a Jaish-e-Mohammed militant who had entered Jammu region in April 2018. Farooq is a member of the terrorist organization operating from Pakistan and the main leader of the Pulwama attack.

He said that Farooq, along with others, had prepared IEDs for use in the Pulwama attack. The official said that Rather is in judicial custody since September 2018 in another case related to Jaish-e-Mohammed. The NIA is also investigating this matter. Jail officials presented Iqbar Rather on Thursday in a special NIA court. The court sent him to seven-day NIA custody for questioning.
