Last date of nomination for Padma Awards-2021 is September 15, 2020

The last date for online nomination / recommendation for Padma Awards to be announced on the occasion of Republic Day, 2021 is September 15, 2020.

Nominations for the Padma Awards have started on May 1, 2020. Nomination / recommendations for Padma Awards will be received online only through the Padma Awards portal https://padmaawards.gov.in.

Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri are among the highest civilian awards in the country. These awards, instituted in 1954, are announced every year on Republic Day. The award seeks to identify 'distinction in work' and is specialized in all fields / disciplines such as arts, literature, education, sports, medicine, social work, science, engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry etc. Provided for exceptional achievements / services. All persons are eligible for these awards without any distinction of occupation, status or gender etc. Government employees, employees of PSUs, doctors and scientists are not eligible for these Padma Awards.

The government is committed to translating these Padma awards into "people's Padma". Therefore, all citizens are requested to send nominations / recommendations including self-nomination.

Nomination / recommendations should include all relevant details specified in the format available on the above mentioned website, which clearly includes exceptional achievements / services / related field / discipline of the eminent person and recommended citations (maximum 800 words) for him / her.

The Ministry of Home Affairs should make every effort to identify talented individuals from all the Central Ministries / Departments, States / Union Territories, Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan winners, institutions of excellence, whose excellence and achievements are indeed women, weaker of society Engaged in selfless service for classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, PwDs and society and requested to enroll them.
